Electro Spark Deposition Welding
The ESD process utilises stored energy in condensers that is transferred to a consumable electrode such as Stainless steel, Inconel or even Aluminum for a very short duration of 10-6 to 10-5 sec for every 10-3 to 10-1 sec. The temperature at the tip of the electrode is approximately 8,000 to 25,000ºC, The ionized material is then transferred to the substrate surface, producing an alloyed layer of deposition. A diffused-clad layer is formed at the interface of the substrate and overlay, providing excellent bonding.
